Emilia Fox rejects marriage proposal from boyfriend ‘every single day’
Silent Witness star Emilia Fox gets proposed to every single day – and says no every time.
The actress, 50, has been dating TV executive Jonathan Stadlen since 2021 and admits she is keen to get married and believes in marriage but she’s not there yet.
She told Woman & Home magazine: ‘Jonathan asks me to marry him every single day, but we’re not officially married.
‘Just saying we love each other each day has been enough for us in this moment.’
She continued: ‘It has felt very romantic because there’s a choice every day to go, “Yes, I really want to marry you today”.
‘He asks me in all different places and at different times. Sometimes when we wake up, sometimes it’s at lunchtime, sometimes on bended knee.’
For now, Emilia is just enjoying life as it is after turning 50 in July this year and is looking forward to packing in more fun over the next decade as her daughter Rose – who she shares with ex Jeremy Gilley – grows older.
‘I’ve had a great time in the first half, but Rose is now a teenager and I’ve packed a lot into trying to get that balance right with work and Rose,’ she said.
‘I think in my 50s there could be some fun! My actual birthday was quiet because I’d been filming until 4am.
‘The day after, we went for the most delicious family lunch at The River Cafe. Starting my 50s with the people that I love — how lucky am I?’
Next month Emilia returns to television for the 28th series of Silent Witness, the long-running crime drama of which she’s been at the helm as Dr Nikki Alexander since 2004.
Unlike Emilia, the last series concluded with Nikki accepting a proposal from her ‘will they-won’t they’ colleague Jack Hodgson.
She’ll be joined by new cast members, Rivals star Maggie Steed and Francesca Mills.
Silent Witness returns to BBC One on January 8.
